If you apply the x86or definition update then you may experience problems updating secondary servers and clients.Read the following document for more information: TECH100441 - Primary server does not update secondary servers or clients using the VDTM.In this case, you only need to configure updates on the primary site.If you choose to use product updates as well as content updates, you should not replicate product updates between sites because these updates can be quite large, and one exists for every language that you select. For information on how updates occur on Endpoint Protection client computers, please see Choose a distribution method to update content on clients. To configure the behavior of a client group, use Live Update client policies, which you create in the Endpoint Protection Manager.
To run Live Update from the Symantec System Center Console Scheduling Live Update You can schedule Live Update to run periodically, either from the Virus Definition Manager within the Symantec System Center, or by clicking File and then Schedule Updates from within Symantec Anti Virus.
The Live Update Administration Utility 1.x and Live Update Administrator 2.x On very large or widely distributed networks, it may be desirable to create an internal server and have clients use Live Update to retrieve updates from that server, rather than using the VDTM.
Symantec offers two distinct products for downloading and distributing Live Update content on an internal network.
In most Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) deployments, the Endpoint Protection Manager will download and distribute materials to all of its Windows clients efficiently.
For more information, see How to update content and definitions on the clients and Downloading content from Live Update to the Endpoint Protection Manager.
